I'm back!!

Hi !!I'm back in India and it feels great to be back home!!Hope you all have been great.
I finally got my bigshot which was lying in hubbie's office in the U.S I was absolutely thrilled to use it considering how long I was pining for it!I sat down to make this card for a few challenges.Making a card after a long time was a bit difficult..ideas weren't flowing that easily :-)
I used my fav stamps Hero Arts designer woodgrain and friend definition..and did resist embossing for the very first time using distress inks.I have made the card for the following challenges:
1)cardpatterns-sketch 114
          2).claudiaandcompany-butterflies
3)jac-inks-heat embossing
    4)sweetstampsblog-butterflie
5)lexiscreations- friendship
Hope to be making cards more often now..thought the heat here is bad and  my body clock has gone haywire..I sleep mostly during the day and am awake all night!!Hope this improves soon!!
Have a great day!!

Asha Ki Kiran (A ray of hope)

Hi All!
Hope you remember me!! This is such an apt title for this post  and it is dedicated to my dear friend  Asha ..well I dunno how to start but let me try..it's been almost a month since I've been back from my break...my brothers wedding went really well..all the ceremonies were beautiful..and totally enjoyed myself.Well after getting back ..I just couldn't get back to card-making..my mojo just decided to take an extended vacation..so I kept waiting and waiting.(.plus I have been waiting for my big-shot too) but mojo never returned.I had given up all hopes of it returning...until I got a call from dear Asha who was constantly messaging and asking me what was up and why I wasn't making cards. We spoke for the first time and almost for an hour..about soo many things ..And voila! after we spoke  my mojo just appeared out of nowhere and I sat down at midnight and was up making his card till 2 a.m..so you see though my mojo hasn't returned completely I see a ray of hope..I'm assured it isn't gone for good..thankyou Asha..and I dedicate this card to you..I mean I made it for you..sorry to ruin the surprise..I made the card totally inspired by my lovely buddy Sasya's card infact it is very similar..I am such a huge fan of hers I just can't help imitating her style (please don't be annoyed Sasya). It is based in the card patternds  sketch 99 but  I didn't enter it in the challenge because I don't think it would be fair.Have a nice day you all!!!

SS#37

Hi !
This is a card I made over a period of  a week coz I really didn't have the energy to sit at length and complete the card in one go.I really loved the simple sketch  at sasya-sketches and was instantly inspired to make this card.Another reason to make this card was that I wanted to use the beautiful punched butterflies I received from Sasya and she sent me so many beautiful  things and an absolutely stunning card that is soooo beautiful I can't take my eyes off it and I look at it atleast once everyday :-) .I stamped the butterflies with red ink with a delicate design border stamp and applied some glitter too because I wanted to enter my card in this week's simonsaysstamp challenge too. Here's what Sasya sent me:

Hand-made flower

Hi!!
I made another card today and the inspiration was totally from Sherryann's  challenge over at Yvonne's blog of making a card with hand-made flowers on it.I have been a follower of Sherryann's blog for some time now and I love her cards. I love making my own flowers for my cards too so this challenge was just perfect..The sketch is Mojo Monday sketch 159. Have a great day!

MMSC74

Hi dearies!
I made this card for MMSC74  Midnightmadness sketch challenge the best part is that you have a choice  of doing the simple or complex version of the same sketch. sketch ..I chose the simpler of the two sketches for this card. My sewing machine arrived this weekend and was super excited to try out some sewing on this card but only fter a few hiccups did I manage to get some straight lines ...phew! Hope you like it and have a great day!

An award for my blogging buddies ..

Hi !!I made this card today for Sasya-sketches sketch 27.I had made this drawing of the Taj Mahal a few days back and wanted to use it in one of my cards.I made the background DP by stamping a flourish pattern stamp from Hobby Ideas onto blue paper.I distressed the image after coloring it lightly with water colors.Hope you like it.

And here is the card

A few days back sweet Lori passed on this award to me along with 10 others.I have to pass on this award to 10 others and write about why I started my blog.Well here goes..I started blogging around Feb of last year and it was mostly to show my creations (I wasn't making cards at that time) to friends and family..but it was only until March of this year that it actually got noticed and it was only after I started card making..and I owe a lot to two of my buddies Spardha, Archana and AshaLatha who put up my blog's link on their blogs and commented (on even my most ghastly creations) and kept my spirits high!I really can't tell how much I appreciate what these girls did for me.Well ..as I need to pass on this award to 10 other of my blogging buddies(Eeeks how can we choose just 10 !) So I dedicate this award to my buddies who have left me sweet comments lately...here goes!

Wishes..

Hi !
I made this card today for two great challenges...the wonderful sketch at 2sketches4you, everybody-art-challenge (hand-made flowers) and Karen's challenge on Yvonne's blog .I followed Karen's tutorial and stamped the image with different colors .I hand cut the label and made a little ribbon flower to complete the look.Though i would have preferred darker colors of ink but these are the only ones I have at the moment.Though simple the card took me an awful lot of time coz the ribbon flower kept unraveling every few minutes and finally I decided to stitch it with a few beads in the centre.Have a great  day!

Roses

Hi dearies!
I made this card for priscillastyles challenge 69

This card was a reall challenge..first the circles ..then I just couldn't match any of my papers(tried all combinations fr half an hour) for the circle in the foreground with the background DP.So I ended up shabbily stamping an image in blue! Also I had to emboss without a heat gun..after much struggling i finally found a solution and believe it or not..I help my paper above the gas burner and it actually embossed the gold powder in like a seconds time!
The rectangular piece of paper is from an old wedding invite. The background DP is from Landmark. The roses are handmade.
I also entered this card for acraftylittleplace -anything goes

'Rakhi'

Hi dearies!
I made this card today for Card Patterns sketch 77.I found the sketch to be quite interesting and so set out to make this really ethnic Indian card. The card in real is much more blingy..(maybe my camera couldn't take all the bling ;-) )
The card is essentially a Rakhi card I made for my brother..actually I happen to be sending him a Rakhi after a really long time...I must admit..I am a bit lazy.I got the idea of attaching the Rakhi in the card itself from Spardha's amazing card here
For those wondering what 'Rakhi' is all about ..here's a little info..A Rakhi is a sacred thread that a sister ties to her brother's wrist on the day of Rakha Bandhan and the brother in return vows to protect and care for his sister in her time of need. The Rakhi could also be tied to person who'm you would like to give the status or love of a brother. Have a happy week!

Friend

Hi dearies! This card is inspired by my newest friend Sasya's beautiful cards..though it's not as half as pretty as hers..(I get lost for hours on her blog) ...and I specially love her butterflies...
The sentiment is hand-written in Hindi, it  is spelt 'mitr' and it means 'friend' and I was inspired to do so after I saw this beautiful hand written verse in Hindi on Spardha's lovely canvas.Have a nice day !
